Operational Design
The key aim of operational design is to provide robust, efficient
and effective business processes which deliver value to both the
customer and the stakeholder.
Operational Design [OD] is also commonly referred to as Business
Process Design. Regardless of the name, the process to develop and
refine an operational process to meet the requirements of the corporate
strategy in a manner that:
- Maximises value delivered
- Minimises costs in both time, materials and money
- Minimises disruption to other value chains and to the natural
environment
- Supports innovation
- Is sufficently flexible for rapid change and expansion
- Supports the growth of employees
Operational Design Methodologies
There are many different names used to describe the method of designing
business processes; most have a common basis of building blocks,
the differences being in the order of approach and detail of capturing
the design.
